Venturing out into the online world is a daunting task if you don’t have a list. However, if you have the budget and opt to purchase your list rather than taking weeks, months or years to establish a strong following, beware!
It is not recommended that you purchase a list from a list broker to use in your email marketing. I’d only recommend it if you are doing offline marketing, but online email marketing is a definite no no. The only way an email can be legitimate is if the person receiving the email opts in. If your list broker says they can offer you double opt-in, it’s a lie. The only way for a person to have access to double opt-in is if they themselves opt-in and subscribe to the list in the first place. And the only way they can do this is on their own! Somebody else can not opt-in for them. They have to opt-in themselves.
On most squeeze pages if the website visitor does not opt in as encouraged they never have the sales page shown to them. The result is a lost sales opportunity which some online entrepreneurs are not comfortable with therefore they choose not to use this page to build a list. As understandable as this choice may be it may however be rather ’short sighted.’

Build an Email List of Targeted Leads
By developing an email list of people who have already shown an interest in the product(s) you promote this helps increase your sales conversion rate. Knowing your customers preferences beforehand makes it easier to select only those products they are most interested in. Your leads are now more targeted and this eliminates the guess work in your product selection.
Build a Relationship with Your Customers
By virtue of having the ability to make contact with your list you can use this opportunity to forge a relationship with them. This is vital to any online business since the internet by nature is impersonal making it difficult to gain peoples trust. If trust can be established it greatly increases your marketing efforts due to the comfortable feeling that exist between the customers and you the promoter.
Yes it is more than that, you shouldn’t spam your list, you should build relationships. But assuming you do all that then you list can be a license to print money. For example say a great product in your niche comes out and t has an affiliate program. You can instantly email your list of interested people and many people would like to buy it, making you money on every sale.
If indeed you did do this what would happen is your host could shut you down immediately. Your domain, the email that you’re sending emails from would be kaput! Basically your entire business would be jeopardized simply because you wanted a quick fix.
Build your list by following the “moral” rules of the online world. You want to build loyalty between you and your visitors and the only way to do this is to respect your list and offer them useful information. Don’t ever risk your business for a quick buck. It’s not worth it. It’s just going to cause more headaches then its worth. So, follow the anti spam act (CAN SPAM Act) rules and build your business the right way.
